Conductivity
For science, we are doing an experiment.
1.First, we collected our materials: spoons made of wood, plastic, and metal
cups made of ceramic, glass, and plastic. The spoons felt neither hot nor cold to begin.
2. We heated up some water and poured some into the ceramic cup.
3. We put the plastic spoon in the hot water and after 30 seconds we took it out and it felt warm. The metal spoon got HOT after 30 seconds. The wooden spoon got warm, not hot. The ceramic cup felt very warm - you couldn't hold it for very long.
4. We poured hot water in the plastic cup. We put teh wooden spoon in the cup for 30 seconds (half of a minute). Next, we put the plastic spoon in the plastic cup and waited for 30 seconds. It felt warm, not hot. Then we put the metal spoon into the cup and waited 30 seconds. Johann said it felt hot. Karl said it felt pretty warm, but not hot.
5. We poured hot water in the glass cup and added the metal spoon for 30 seconds. It felt hot. The plastic spoon felt warm, but not hot. The wooden spoon got warm.
So, we learned that metal always gets hot, but plastic and wood don't get hot. So, we looked at the cooking tools in the kitchen drawer and noticed none of the handles were made of metal. We figured that was so you don't burn your hands when cooking.

Hi Johann,
It has been a long time since we wrote to you. We had five days of school this week.
It is starting to get nice.
We wrote some great biographies this week. It sounds like you are keeping busy in France. We enjoy reading your blog and looking at the pictures.
The students are anxious for the carnival next Friday.
We are looking forward to your return to Ed-Co. We miss you!
Mrs. Putz
What's up Johann?
How are you doing?
Are you having fun in France?
We are doing biographies in reading.
From,
Seth
Dear Johann Sauer,
It looked liked you had fun getting buried in the sand. I just hope you didn't forget how MUCH Macy, Cassi, Megan, did I forget MYSELF! Anyway I'm NOT yelling at you I just hope you didn't forget. We haven't spoken in a long time. Oh, Mrs. Meyer got to go scubadiving and the camera man he saw a White Tailed Shark!!! Oh, that's right we haven't spoken in a long time.
Well love to stay and chat but I got to go read, BYE-BYE

Hi Johann,
We have a concert pretty soon. We had 4 snow days in the last 2 weeks. We are making them up when you are here. We made posters about other people in our class. Megan got a new pencil when she went to Florida recently. Nick has 20 new baby goats in the last 3 weeks. They like to play around and are fun to watch. Do you miss your friends? We are almost to the 4th quarter. We are square dancing in pe. It is fun, the horse and buggy dance is the most fun. Was it fun getting buried in the sand? It looked like fun. Was it fun holding the knights armor?
Nick is at 91% for AR tests.
We hope to see you soon,
Nick and Megan
Hi Johann,
I miss you! Guess what,we have our spring concert coming up. It is about the regons. We got to pick our state and I picked Iowa. Mrs. Pierschbacher picked who could talk about our state on that night and one of them was me!
Anyway,I am in a splint now. My toe is mostly healed. I just have to have it on because if I bump it I will have to start all over again with the cast and I don't want to that.
In gym the class is starting to Square Dance. They are doing really great at it.
Those pictures that you showed us are really cool!
I have never seen a real cave man before! Bye!
Your Buddy,
Macy
