we miss all of our friends and family. Thanks for the messages on the blog. We like reading them; please keep writing. We answered some of your questions below.
See you in April!
Karl, Johann, Chris and Janet
Class questions:
When are we coming back?
We're coming back to Iowa on April 13th.
Do you like France?
Yes, we like it a lot. It has good fish that we eat for dinner. It's fun to go the post office to send mail. It's fun to visit the castles, like Carcasonne and Castelnou.
What do you eat?
We eat fish, homemade pizza, lots of vegetables (carrots, lettuce, eggplant and tomatoes), and fruit (mango, kiwi, apples, strawberries, bananas and oranges). One strange thing: milk comes in a box.
Do Johann and Karl like their bikes?
Yes! We love them. We ride them almost everyday on the side roads near our village. We're safe. We wear helmets (les casques) and gloves (les gants) and ride on the right side of the road.
Do we have snow in France?
There is snow on the mountain peaks, but not here on the side of the mountain. The weather has been cool and sunny. There was rain yesterday and last night it was very windy.
Have we learned French?
Yes, simple words like baguette, numbers, monsieur and madame, how to ask for things like baguettes. 'Puis j'avoir une baguette, s'il vous plait?'
Do you like salmon?
Yes, a lot. We like bready, crunchy fish. We like trout (truit) and les crevettes (shrimp) and les langoustines (scampi). We can buy them at Champion and Carrefour (large supermarkets) and from the fishermen at the harbor on Tuesday (saumon) and Sunday (for other kinds of fish).
What kind of animals are there?
There are wild boar, squid and octopi! There are also different kinds of birds around. We saw sea urchins and mussles at the market.
What kinds of bike brands are there?
Giant (Karl's), Orbea (Mom's), Decathlon (Johann's), Kona, Cannondale and Specialized, Time, Look.
What's the money like?
I do like the money. The money is the Euro. 1 Euro equals 100 centimes or Eurocents. A Euro is worth more than a dollar, about $1.30 equals one Euro.

Hi from Ostwinkles!
Hi Chris, Janet, Johann, and Karl!
I finally got a chance to look at your entire blog! (The girls and Ben are always hogging the computer!) Wow! Boy I wish I was there with you! How beautiful and fun and exciting... you are so lucky! I had to laugh when you described the roundabouts because I had my first experience driving around and around roundabouts when I was in Ireland in October. It took a little getting used to-- no green means go! We have lots of snow here. The snowpants and boots aren't getting a chance to dry out. If you were here on Wednesdays I'm sure your mom or dad would have to drag you boys inside when they got here to pick you up. Ben keeps asking when you are coming. Hard to explain 99 days to a 5 year old. He'll ask, "How many sleeps?" Quite a few! We miss you but wouldn't want you to be anywhere else than where you are. It sounds like you are having a great time.
We'll stay in touch!
love,
Pam (P.S. bring me a baguette! lol)

Any idea where Carrer del Prats d'en Vigo is in Villelongue? We're visiting in July & Mum can't find it on any map - just know it's 0.6km from village centre. Love reading your stuff - looking forward to our holiday there. Is there much to do for kids? Keep cycling!

Hi Chris,Janet,Johann, and Karl from the Darrows!
I finally got to read your entire blog. It sure sounds like you are having fun there. Riley says to tell Johann and Karl that he misses them terribly and can't wait for them to come home but that he hopes they have a good time. Everything sounds so interesting. We tried to get ahold of you before you left but we were too late.Riley would like to send Johann and Karl a care package. Can you email us your address? The email adress is sweets252000@hotmail.com. Also is there a phone number where Riley can call and talk to the boys? Email that too if there is. It is suppose to get really cold here this week. Seeing pictures of what looks like nice weather makes me wish for spring.
Well I better go!
Have fun and remember that you are thought of often!
Love~
Randy,Stacy,Lexie,and Riley
Chris~
Can I ask a favor of you that I know Riley will just love. Do you remember that Riley collects sea shells from all over? If there a is possiblity that you could pick him up one from France I know that he would cherish it.
Thank you
Stacy
Hi Karl,
The snow is fun. I am sledding at home. I am playing kickball at recess. On Friday, Miss Glime and I made cookies and snacks made with peanuts. I read a story about George Washington Carver. He made lots of things with peanuts. I shared them with our class and Mrs. Anderegg's class.
I miss you.

Hi Karl,
I went to Shriner's Hospital last week. I got a new headpiece on my wheelchair.
I got sick last Friday when the bus was coming to my house. I stayed home all day.
I am learning to use switches on the computer. They help me talk too.
My swing got moved inside because it's too cold outside.
I miss you, Karl.
Kelly
Sauers,
Lillie here. I hope you guys are having a great time! Whenever I get off the bus on Wednesdays, I look for Karl and Johann and I'm like, "Oh yeah, they're in France! Lucky dogs." When I get home Ben will run up to the door, and say "Karl and Johann... Where are they?" I'll say they are in France and he once said, "Oh, where they say bonjour." He is one smart kid.
Anway have a great time. I'll see ya in April, Au Revoir,
Lillie
