Learning French
I've been playing with French since my sophomore year at the University of Wisconsin in... a long time ago. The motivation to learn a language then was mostly academic. For the last six years I've been involved with a program at my college and spend time with a 'sister school' in the town of La Roche sur Yon, about 40 miles south of Nantes. Now I have a functional motivation! How do I order food? Can I get a room at a reasonable hotel (meaning they likely do not speak English)? What if the lock on my door doesn't work?
You get the idea.
So I'm busy locating online resources for learning and reviewing this very non-germanic language. If you have a site to share, please post it as a comment. The following will be a growing list:
- Languages Online at http://atschool.eduweb.co.uk/rgshiwyc/school/curric/HotPotatoes/index.htm
- Counting at http://www.kameleo.com/french/JEU-Ch0-Chiffres0a20.html
- ClicNet: Français langue étrangère et langue seconde at http://clicnet.swarthmore.edu/fle.html
Bon chance!
